Internet memes are nothing but a way of expressing your thoughts on any subject with the use of creatively laughable captions and pictures. These subjects can be either general or political or current
issues and on and on. People are actually skilled at creating such memes which revolve around teeny tiny facts to huge serious issues because of which the former is over-exaggerated while the latter
lightens our hearts. If we just consider an example of this we can see that how laziness and basic anxieties have been exaggerated to having mental health issues and how memes based on serious topics such as following a good diet to remain healthy are actually demotivating us from within to do so. There is no doubt that being serious about everything sucks and if we just laugh at our problems
sometimes then there's no harm; in fact it's one of the great ways to deal with stresses. But is someone aware enough to point out the difference between sometimes and everyday!?
We all are social mediaholics and there is an ocean of memes out there on the same platform. We get acquainted with endless number of memes per day, relate to them in some way and laugh it off. But we need to realize that some memes are so extreme that it starts reflecting the darker side of our lives. I am not saying that all memes are degrading, some are definitely just for the purpose of fun but we don’t realize how this ‘fun’ impacts on our brain. Reading such stuff continuously puts you in a negative state. And it has got these huge impacts when you come across them just after a stressful day or a fight or a breakup or any negative encounter. We need to relax after such circumstances rather than add more spice to it. But as social media is ruling the world we don't find any option other than
scrolling kilometers on our phones to channelize our negative energy.

Memes talk about health, relationships, sex, family, work and what not which are actually the important things in our lives. Many would really enjoy that and actually feel like they feel better but unknowingly it does leave an impression on our subconscious mind. It’s good to laugh at our problems but carelessness is something what these memes are promoting. You might try paying attention to what kind of memes you most relate with or laugh at for you might see your problems in the exact same areas. These might be your real triggers. Our defense mechanisms are on such a height most of the times that we actually take our most important triggers very lightly. Some of them are resistance, ignorance, blame game, guilt and the one which this article already state- laughing at our problems when we actually need to address the muddle.
The need to sermonize this topic is because we are highly functioned by social media and that coming across such funny labels is pretty natural. And now imagine a person who is immensely inspired to start working enthusiastically or start exercising, comes across a demotivating meme just before initiating it is now influenced by those unnecessary images popping in his phone which is destroying that person's mental preparation. Therefore, it is suggested that do not surf social media before starting something or going somewhere of eminence. If you have enough self awareness and self control to distinguish between taking things lightly and seriously then I would say you are on a better side. But if you are not then these internet memes are not aiding in anything good. It is a sad fact that teenagers are getting affected by this majorly who are still on the path of recognizing self and developing self control. Guiding them properly and keeping a check on their activities without getting suspicious can be done.
Understanding the balance of everything and always trying to be at an equilibrium is the best advice I would give in every phase of life.
